The Ethiopian delegation, led by Health Minister Dr. Mekdes Daba, is participating in the 79th World Health Assembly being held in Geneva.


Health Minister Dr. Mekdes Daba, who made a speech at the assembly, stated that according to the recently released public health survey findings, Ethiopia has recorded encouraging results in reducing maternal and child mortality, and emphasized that in the future, by ensuring universal health coverage, close attention will be given to primary health care to diligently work towards creating a strong health system.


The Minister stated that focus will be given to continuously improving maternal and child health through the participation of the entire community and the coordination of relevant stakeholders, as well as by ensuring the motivation and benefit of health professionals, and preventing and controlling communicable and non-communicable diseases, and making quality health services accessible with the help of modern technology: also expressed that Ethiopia is committed to working in coordination with the World Health Organization, the African Union, countries, local and international partner organizations, as well as all stakeholders to achieve the sustainable health development goals.
