During the meeting, both sides reviewed the long-standing partnership between the Ministry of Health and the organization. Special attention was paid to the progress made in the areas of disease prevention, surveillance and eradication programs, including the prevention of tropical diseases, Guinea worm disease and other priority health issues.
Dr. Mekdes expressed her appreciation for the ongoing support provided by the Carter Center; she said that the center has made significant contributions to improving health outcomes across the country. She expressed the government’s commitment to working closely with development partners; and said that they will continue to work together to expand access to quality services.
Paige Alexander, Executive Director of the Carter Center, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Ethiopia’s efforts to eliminate disease and strengthen the health system. They commended the progress made through joint initiatives; They highlighted the importance of sustainable cooperation to achieve national and international health goals.
The bilateral discussion explored opportunities for future cooperation in digital health, surveillance systems, and capacity building, aimed at accelerating the development of the country’s health sector.
