The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) has announced that it will strengthen its broad support to Ethiopia’s health response efforts, including the fight against Marburg virus.
Minister of Health Dr. Mekdes Daba said that they discussed with the delegation the need to strengthen emergency preparedness and support national priorities such as surveillance, patient care, logistics and overall coordination. They also discussed long-term measures to strengthen Ethiopia’s health system and improve its preparedness for future outbreaks.
The European Union reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Ethiopian government to strengthen its partnership in managing the current Marburg situation and building a stronger health system for the country.
