During the discussion, Minister of Health Dr. Mekdes Daba noted the long-standing partnership with CDC in health system strengthening, HIV/AIDS and malaria programs, and laboratory capacity building. She also thanked the CDC for its support.
She further called for this collaboration to be further strengthened, especially in the areas of strengthening emergency preparedness and response, as well as immunization services and information system modernization.
Martha Akers, Regional Director of the Centers for Global Health, said that the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will continue to work to strengthen the Ethiopian health system, and assured the Minister of Health that they will work closely together, especially on the areas of focus.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to further strengthen cooperation, especially in the areas of emergency public health response, vaccination services, and information system modernization.
