The African Medical Education Conference "MedEDAfrica 2026" has begun in Addis Ababa

Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh stated that Ethiopia is working with determination to shape the future of our continent through medical education and digital innovation.

Mr. Temesgen noted that our country is serving as a regional center of excellence by training health professionals from across Africa in its higher medical education institutions.

He added that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopia is preparing to become a model for the continent in artificial intelligence and digital innovation.

Minister of Health Dr. Mekdes Daba discussed government-to-government health matters with Dr. Mamadi Yilla, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the US Department of State.

Minister of Health Dr. Mekdes Daba stated that the governments of Ethiopia and the United States have been jointly executing multifaceted cooperation works in the health sector for a long time, and noted that results have been achieved particularly in expanding digital health services, preventing malaria epidemics, expanding maternal and child health, as well as curbing the spread of TB and HIV/AIDS.
