The Ministry of Health handed over the Addis Park (Millennium Hall) which had been used as a Covid 19 medical and emergency response center for the past two years to MEDROCK Investment Group.


The Minister of Health, Dr. Lia Tadesse, said when she handed over the center to MEDROCK Investment Group, in the last two years, there have been many ups and downs to prevent the covid 19 epidemic. She mentioned that, “although the problem caused by Covid 19 has not stopped today, we are happy to have made it to this day and to be able to hand over the Millennium Medical Center”.

Members of the House of Representatives said that they will do their part to expand family planning services.

The funding provided by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) under the facilitation of UNICEF to improve maternal and infant health in Benshangul Gumuz and Afar regions; and medical equipment and motorcycles for transportation had been handed over to the Minister of Health.

The tree planting program was launched today at the Ethiopian Physical Support Service (Gefersa Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center). The Ministry of Health, Dr. Lia Tadesse, said the Ministry of Health and its institutions have started planting more than 50,000 seedlings in the summer of 2022.

The Ministry of Health has received 10 million doses of covid 19 vaccine from the Chinese government.

Health Minister Dr. Lia Tadesse today received 10 million of the 20 million doses of covid vaccine promised by the Chinese government to Ethiopia. Dr. Lia received the donation from the Ambassador of China to Ethiopia, Zhao Zhiyuan.

Over the past six years, more than 58 million people have access to quality health care, provided by primary health service.

Digitized Patient Health Information Management Application “Welfare Pass” Agreement Signed.

The Ministry of Health has today signed an agreement with MasterCard, Gavi and JSI to launch the app.


The Minister of Health, Dr. Lia Tadesse, said in a press statement at the signing ceremony that the Ministry will strengthen its information-based decision-making system in the Second Health Sector Plan. She said special attention is being given to collecting, analyzing and using quality information. At the same time, she said, the launch of the digital app will help update the information system in the health sector.

The Ministry of Health and the French Embassy signed an agreement to refurbish Dessie General Hospital

Dessie General Hospital is one of the war-affected health facilities, and an agreement was signed among the Ministry of Health, the French Embassy in Ethiopia and the African Union to better refurbish the hospital.


Health Minister Dr. Lia Tadesse said the Ministry of Health is working hard to restore and refurbish health facilities damaged during the war. She said the French government has supported the project which is worth over 81 million birr to refurbish Dessie General Hospital.

Two memorandums of understanding were signed to cover the cost of medical treatment and air ticket to India for 100 children with heart disease and to further strengthen the services provided by the Ethiopian Children's Cardio Center.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed among the Ministry of Health, Ethiopian Airlines, Rotary International and the Ethiopian Heart Patients Association to send 100 heart patients to India for treatment by covering the full cost of treatment and air tickets. The Ministry of Health, Dr. Lia Tadesse, said the memorandum of understanding will strengthen the work being done to prevent non-communicable diseases in Ethiopia.
