The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) provided medical supplies to the Ministry of Health to help improve the health of mothers and infants.

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) provided medical supplies worth 31,076,584 birr to the Ministry of Health. The funding provided by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) under the facilitation of UNICEF to improve maternal and infant health in Benshangul Gumuz and Afar regions; and medical equipment and motorcycles for transportation had been handed over to the Minister of Health.


Minister of Health, Dr. Lia Tadesse, said during the handover, regarding the support provided, “the support will not only help to increase the treatment of mothers and babies, but will also make a big contribution in supporting the treatment of babies in Benishangul and Afar regions.” Dr. Lia Tadese thanked the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the UNICEF Ethiopia office for the support and said that the support will contribute to reducing the death of newborn children in the regions and improving their safety.


On his part, Songhe Cho, Deputy Director General of the Korea International Cooperation Agency said, “in order to support the maternal and infant treatment in Ethiopia, the support of medical equipment will help to improve the health of mothers and infants in the Benshangul Gumuze and Afar regions.” He pointed out that support was provided by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) under the coordination of UNICEF.


Dr. Gianfranco Rotigliano, the representative of UNICEF in Ethiopia, said during the handover that the support given to improve the health services of newborn children is of great benefit, and he thanked the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for its continued support.
