Disaster Preparedness and Response

Disaster preparedness

All sections of the governments have a responsibility to protect public safety and provide emergency relief in a crisis. Therefore national, regional, facility and pre-facility disaster preparedness is most important. It is mandatory to institutionalize a standard emergency and disaster management system by correlating the clinical emergency response with the public health emergency management through creating surge capacity at facilities, interlinkage between facilities which translates to regional capacity. Besides the integration, establishing and standardizing an emergency and disaster team and pre facility response to disasters, emergency medical teams in facilities along with planning and drill system will be executed.

In addition to advocating for national integrated emergency response system, the establishment of disaster medical assistance teams will be a major activity undertaken to ensure emergency coverage at mass gathering and public events as well as response to disasters. National, regional and facility level disaster drill system will be developed to ensure surge capacity.
