Lead Executive Officer for Policy, Strategy & Research Lead Executive Office

Dr. Abraham Alemayehu has been A/Lead Executive Officer for Policy, Strategy & Research Lead Executive Office since February 2023. Previously he served as Section Chief for COVID-19 testing and surveillance at EPHI Emergency Operation Center (EOC) from June 2022 to September 2022 as part of national COVID-19 response team. He was serving for National Tuberculosis Control Program as coordinator for Public Private Mix (PPM-TB) initiative from Dec 2016 to Dec 2022. Moreover, from Dec 2014- June 2015, he was among African Union Ebola response mission contingents who were sent to West Africa (Monrovia, Liberia) as the epidemiologist team leader in solidarity with brotherly Africa nations. With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Abraham Alemayehu is Public Health expert who specialized in both Doctorate and Master’s Degrees in Public Health as well as BSc in Pharmacy with extensive experience as health program manager, public health emergency responder, researcher, par time academic instructor and coordinator for national pharmaceutical supply management. Further he has more than 5 publications.

Since February 2017 he is a member for global PPM-TB working group which was established and lead by global TB program (WHO) with significant contribution and participation during regular annual meeting example Daresalam-Tanzania, The Hague-Netherlands and Jakarta-Indonesia meetings. Similarly he is serving as expert panel member for global TB PPM learning network which was launched in Hyderabad-India during November 2019 Union TB Conference. He was also chair person for National PPM-TB technical working groups; in addition to his membership for National TB-HIV Technical Working Wroup.

Dr. Abraham Alemayehu has significant experience at national level with excellent understanding and engagement with public health activities such strong participation during the preparation of numerous policy, strategy, guidelines and training curricula for public health interventions. coherently he engaged in sever national level surveys such as Mini DHS 2019, SPA 2021-22, SARA and many more. Furthermore, he conducted several in service trainings on Tuberculosis control program, EPI program, public health surveillance and etc with team building and several partnerships.
