Director General of Africa CDC, Dr. Jean Kaseya, thanked the Minister of Health, Dr. Lia Tadese for her warm welcome and expressed his appreciation for the measures taken by the Ethiopian Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of the Covid-19.
In particular, he said that he appreciates the contribution of Ethiopian Airlines by delivering life-saving health supplies to many African countries during the epidemic and the role that the Ethiopian Public Health Institute is playing in improving the country's health system. Dr. Jean also asked Ethiopia to share its experience and human resources in the health sector with other African countries.
Dr. Lia explained that the cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the African CDC on various public health issues, efforts to make vaccines accessible and production, and strengthening the health system as a whole is strong and will continue to be strengthened. Dr. Lia reminded that Ethiopia has invested heavily in the health sector to develop its human resources. She said that Ethiopia is not only ready to share its experience, but also to share the human resources it has produced in the health sector with other African countries.
During the discussion, Dr. Lia said that Ethiopia is working with the World Bank and international donor organizations as well as the African CDC to establish a vaccine manufacturing facility that will benefit not only Ethiopia but also other countries on the continent.
Dr. Lia said that the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia is ready to work in strong cooperation with the Director General of Africa CDC.
