Population: Based on 2002 (EFY) figures from the Central Statistical Agency (CSA) of Ethiopia, the Somali Region has an estimated total population of 4,713,619 consisting of 2,621,430 men and 2,092,189 women. 86.1% of the population is estimated to be rural inhabitants, while 13.9% are urban dwellers (CSA 2007).
