Addis Ababa Youth Volunteers in the Health Sector Recognized

The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Addis Ababa Youth Volunteer Coordination Bureau, launched a summer volunteerism program in the health sector.


Recognized are young people from Addis Ababa who have volunteered at St. Emmanuel Mental Specialized Hospital, Alert Center, St. Peter's Specialized Hospital, Tirunesh Beijing Hospital, Yekatit 12 Medical College, Ras Desta Hospital and St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College.


Minister of State for Health, Dr. Ayele Teshome, hho opened the accreditation forum with a speech said volunteerism is a fundamental issue in a country where we cannot achieve many things due to lack of funds.


He said the health sector is a sector where many people are abused due to lack of knowledge and limited service delivery, wasted a lot of time "Thank you for understanding this sector," he said. He said you should be proud of your time in this field. The state minister added that they will continue to work hard to promote virtue.


According to Aseged Samuel, Director of the Human Resource Development Directorate of the Ministry of Health, volunteer work is not a one-time job rather a full time job. He thanked the young people who have been doing various services and saying that we are happy to be a part of this.


At the forum, a report on the performance of the hospitals' 2013 Summer Youth Voluntary Plan was presented and certificates were issued to the volunteer youth.
