21st Health Sector Annual Review Meeting is Underway

The 21st Health Sector Annual Review Meeting that Ministry of Health and Addis Ababa Health Bureau prepared jointly has started at Addis Abeba, Skylight Hotel.

Engineer Takele Uma, Addis Ababa City Administration Deputy Mayor, while he was making an opening speech of the conference stated that health and being healthy are the gifts from God, and he thanked health professionals for their contribution in producing healthy and productive citizens.

Dr. Amir Aman, Minister of the Ministry of Health, in his opening remark paid gratitude to Health Extension Workers (HEWs) and others health professionals for their crucial role in all aspects of the achievements.  

In addition to delivering the message of the event, the Minister presented the main performance report of the last year. He told that the participant skilled delivery status increased from 28% in 2016 to 50% in 2019.

According to Dr. Amir, due to efforts made in the four pastoral regions and seven zones, impressive accomplishments registered in equity and quality healthcare service for community. Accordingly, more than Three Hundred Thousands households’ family health data have been recorded with the electronic tools.

On the event, different individuals and institutions received award from the honorable guests of the event for their outstanding performances in different categories such as Excellence in Health Sector Professional Services, and Leadership.

The opening ceremony of the conference was accompanied by the police force marching band and Addis Ababa Children and Youth Theater group through presenting songs and educational drama. The exhibition center which was organized by the Ministry of Health, Regional Health Bureaus, Agencies and Partner Organizations was visited by the honorable guests and participants of the conference.
